Unlocking Feral Chaos

Duodecim's true final boss is not Chaos but his unleashed form: Feral Chaos, level 130, over 125,000 HP — the only boss in the game to become playable once beaten. Here is the full unlock path and three proven ways to win the fight that gates him.

The unlock path

Feral Chaos is unlocked at the end of the bonus scenario “Confessions of the Creator” (scenario 000), where he is the final boss. The route:

  1. Finish the main 012 scenario “Treachery of the Gods”: this unlocks the first Dissidia's story (013 “Light to All”) and makes scenario 000 purchasable in the PP catalogue.
  2. Open “Confessions of the Creator”: buy it for 2,000 PP in the catalogue, or finish scenario 013 — which unlocks it for free. Buying is the faster route.
  3. Work through scenario 000, designed for high-level characters (enemies from roughly 50 to 130). Along the way, a first level 95 Feral Chaos in his “Jade Dissonance” outfit (~60,000 HP) serves as a mid-boss: a five-player team fight, and after 60 seconds his Booster accessory gives him a ×90 multiplier (+450% attack and defence) that makes him all but invulnerable — land as much HP damage as you can before that, or leave the gateway to restart the fight from scratch.
  4. Reach the last gateway, “Edge of Discord”: a five-floor dungeon populated by level 120 and higher manikins, with the real level 130 Feral Chaos at the bottom.
  5. Beat him — see the three methods below. The win spawns chests (a Megalixir and the four pieces of his exclusive “Rise of Discord” set) and completes the scenario.

The fight that gates everything

The final Feral Chaos: level 130, over 125,000 HP, Garland as his assist, the Shinryu Verus summon (reusable) and unique accessories — any HP attack that hits you empties your EX and Assist gauges, his assist gauge fills 50% faster, and he deals 400% damage in EX Mode.

Three ways to beat him

Method 1 — The Iai Strike build: a win in under a minute

The quickest method, documented by the Final Fantasy Wiki, exploits Iai Strike (a chance of an instant Break on every hit), pushed to a near-guaranteed trigger by a booster multiplier of 99.9×.

Method 2 — The HP attacks the AI does not dodge

The reference community guide on GameFAQs (2011) identified HP attacks that Feral Chaos's AI cannot avoid — repeat them without remorse:

Method 3 — Straight up: neutralise Shinryu Verus and punish

After unlocking

Once “Confessions of the Creator” is complete, Feral Chaos appears in the PP catalogue: 350 PP to unlock him as a playable character. His “Jade Dissonance” alternate can be bought there too.

In play, he is a colossus with strings attached: bravery that drains away and EX/Assist gauges locked until he has learned his exclusive abilities (levels 10, 30 and 100), moves costing 30-50 CP once mastered, basic abilities priced out of reach — and he cannot be taken as an assist. Competitively, the modern ruleset bans him; the rulesets that do admit him (Japan Ranked, DISSent Folk) forbid him the EX and Assist gauges.
